Recap: Georgia State vs. Old Dominion
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Harrow led all scorers with 33 points, and the Georgia State Panthers out-lasted the Old Dominion Monarchs, 79-73, in a matchup between former Colonial Athletic Association foes at GSU Sports Arena.
Harrow did his damage on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor and 14-of-15 accuracy at the free-throw line. Manny Atkins was next in line with 15 points for the Panthers (4-6), who left the CAA for the Sun Belt Conference this season. Devonta White had 13 points, six assists and three steals, while R.J. Hunter rounded out GSU's double-digit scorers with 11 points, albeit behind 2-of-9 shooting from the floor.
The Monarchs (4-6) suffered their fifth consecutive loss, despite 21 points from Aaron Bacote, who drained 5-of-7 3-pointers. Dimitri Batten and Keenan Palmore scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Richard Ross (seven points) pulled down a dozen rebounds.
ODU shot a healthy 55 percent from the floor and made 7-of-13 threes in the first half. GSU made only 9-of-24 field goals (.375) in the period yet trailed by only a 37-35 margin at the break, thanks in part to its 15-8 edge at the foul line.
The Panthers out-scored ODU by a 17-5 margin at the charity stripe in the second stanza. They shot 54.5 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, and Harrow put the game away by converting six straight free throws in the final 1:40.
GSU's 32 made foul shots were its most in a game since 2004.Game Notes
