Recap: Georgia State vs. Arkansas State

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - R.J. Hunter netted 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting to pace his Georgia State Panthers past the Arkansas Red Wolves, 73-72, in Sun Belt Conference action at the GSU Sports Arena.

Hunter hit his final field goal of the night with 11.1 seconds left in regulation, lifting the Panthers to victory. He added six rebounds and three steals for Georgia State (11-6, 4-0 Sun Belt).

Devonta White chipped in 15 points, while Ryan Harrow added 11 and Manny Atkins scored 10 for the Panthers, who have now won eight consecutive contests.

Kirk Van Slyke scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the double-double to lead the Red Wolves (10-6, 3-2). Kendrick Washington contributed 12 points and nine rebounds, and Cameron Golden scored 10 with six assists and five boards. Arkansas State has lost two of its last three games.

Georgia State hit 48.5 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, and took a 38-29 lead into the break. The Red Wolves hit 39.3 percent of their shots from the floor in the frame.

The Panthers remained productive in the second half, hitting 48 percent of their field goal attempts, but just 2-of-9 from 3-point range. Arkansas State increased its shooting percentage to 45.7 from the field.

Arkansas State managed to outrebound Georgia State, 41-26, but turned the ball over 12 times to the Panthers' six. Georgia State had the edge in points off turnovers, 18-11.
