Recap: Wyoming vs. San Jose St
Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Larry Nance, Jr. tallied a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Wyoming Cowboys past the San Jose State Spartans, 67-56, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Arena-Auditorium.
Nance, Jr. shot 6-of-8 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line while adding five blocks for Wyoming (11-6, 2-2 MWC), which has won back-to-back games. Josh Adams registered 16 points and seven assists, while Nathan Sobey chipped in 10 points.
For SJSU (6-12, 0-6), losers of six in a row, D.J. Brown scored 18 points on 4-of-8 from 3-point range, while Devante Wilson and Chris Cunningham netted 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Wyoming shot a stellar 53.8 percent from the field in the first half while holding SJSU to only 36.4 percent shooting, as it carried a 35-26 lead into intermission.
The trends continued in the second stanza, as the Cowboys held on by shooting 47.6 percent from the floor. The Spartans continued to struggle, netting just 37.5 percent of their tries from the field.
