Recap: Weber State vs. San Jose St
Ogden, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind a 20-point effort from Davion Berry, the Weber State Wildcats dismissed the San Jose State Spartans, 72-55, in non- conference action at the Dee Events Center.
Berry did his damage on 6-of-13 from the field and also handed out eight assists for Weber State (1-3). Richaud Gittens came off the bench to score 10 points, while Joel Bolomboy tallied eight points and 11 rebounds.
For SJSU (2-6), Rashad Muhammad scored 17 points on 4-of-8 from 3-point range, Chris Cunningham tallied a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Jaleel Williams netted 14 points but on just 5-of-19 from the floor.
Weber State shot a modest 43.5 percent from the field in the first half, but SJSU made only 32 percent of its field goal tries, as the Wildcats went into intermission with a 30-22 lead.
The Wildcats improved their field goal shooting to 52 percent after the break, and although the Spartans took a brief lead midway through the frame, Weber State pulled away with a 16-0 run.
Although Weber State shot just 57.6 percent from the free-throw line, it outscored SJSU at the stripe, 19-7.Game Notes
