Recap: Nevada vs. Iona
Reno, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Deonte Burton scored 20 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Nevada Wolf Pack posted an 80-72 win over the Iona Gaels in non-conference action at the Lawlor Events Center
Burton, who shot just 1-of-5 behind the 3-point line on the afternoon, added six assists and four steals as Nevada (5-7) snapped a two-game slide. Jerry Evans Jr. accounted for 18 points and six rebounds, Michael Perez 14 points and four assists, while Cole Huff registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards for the hosts.
The Gaels (5-5), losers of three straight, were led by A.J. English with a game-high 22 points, shooting 6-of-12 beyond the arc, while Sean Armand and Tre Bowman tacked in 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Iona, which shot 7-of-17 on the perimeter in the first half and 48.4 percent from the floor overall in the frame, led by as many as eight points in the period before having to settle for a 42-40 advantage at the break.
After making good on a respectable 45.5 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action, Nevada turned it around with 57.1 percent accuracy in the second half in order to secure the win.
In a game that featured four ties and 16 lead changes, the Gaels hurt themselves with just 6-of-12 shooting at the free-throw line.Game Notes
