Recap: Fresno State vs. Wyoming
Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Johnson finished with 20 points and eight rebounds as the Fresno State Bulldogs downed the Wyoming Cowboys, 67-62, in a Mountain West Conference at the Save Mart Center.
Marvelle Harris added 11 points for FSU (9-13, 2-7 MWC) as it snapped a five- game losing streak. Johnson also dealt out a team-high four assists.
Larry Nance, Jr. led the Cowboys (13-7, 4-3) with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. Riley Grabau contributed 14 points for Wyoming, which had won its previous four games.
The Bulldogs took a 33-26 lead into the intermission after they knocked down 58.3 percent of their field goal attempts including 4-of-10 from behind the 3- point line in the first half. Wyoming was limited to 41.7 percent efficiency from the floor before the break.
The Cowboys heated up to connect on 54.2 percent of their shots from the floor including a 5-of-10 clip from beyond the arc in the second stanza, however they converted only 5-of-11 tries at the charity stripe in the period. FSU allowed Wyoming to jump back in front with 11:04 left in regulation after it had built its advantage to as many as 11. The Bulldogs made 13-of-17 free- throw attempts over the final 20 minutes to seal the much needed victory.
