Recap: Boise State vs. St Marys-CA
Boise, ID (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Holt scored 24 points and had six assists as the Saint Mary's Gaels won a close one, 82-74, versus the Boise State Broncos in a non-conference tilt at Taco Bell Arena.
James Walker III scored 14 points for the Gaels (8-0), Beau Levesque added 13 and Kerry Carter chipped in 12 points. Brad Waldow tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
Boise State (8-2) was led by Derrick Marks' 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Jeff Elorriaga scored 20 points while Ryan Watkins added 14 points, six boards and four blocked shots.
The Gaels, who led by as many as 16 in the first half, made 51.5 percent of their field goal attempts and went 8-of-13 from 3-point range in the frame. The Broncos shot 58.6 percent from the field and made 4-of-7 from beyond the arc as the hosts trailed by two at the break, 46-44.
Saint Mary's shot a little better than Boise State over the final 20 minutes of action, making 44 percent of its shots from the floor whereas the Broncos made 40 percent from the field. With 1:46 remaining the Gaels' lead was cut to one after Anthony Drmic made a layup. From that point on SMC went on a 12-5 run to close out the victory.
The Gaels won the rebounding battle, 35-27, and outscored the Broncos on the perimeter, 36-18.Game Notes
