Recap: San Francisco vs. Illinois State
San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paris Lee, Zach Lofton and Bobby Hunter each scored 15 points to help lead the Illinois State Redbirds past the San Francisco Dons, 90-76, as part of the Golden Gate Challenge at War Memorial Stadium.
Nick Zeisloft added 14 points for Illinois State (3-4), while Daishon Knight stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. Reggie Lynch rounded out the Redbirds' double-digit scorers with 10 points off the bench.
For USF (5-4), Tim Derksen paced all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-10 from the field. Mark Tollefsen added 17 points, Cole Dickerson netted 13 points, Matt Glover had 10 points and six assists, and Kruize Pinkins ripped down 10 rebounds.
Although USF shot 47.8 percent from the field in the first half compared to Illinois State's 42.4 percent, the Redbirds carried a 34-28 lead into intermission. They attempt 10 more shots in the stanza than the Dons thanks largely to winning the turnover battle, 12-6.
The Redbirds' advantage grew to as many as 24 late in the game as they cruised to victory.
Illinois State was red-hot from 3-point range, shooting 13-of-27. USF, on the other hand, made only 4-of-27 from beyond the arc.Game Notes
