Recap: Indiana State vs. Evansville
Terre Haute, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Odum scored a game-high 22 points to lift the Indiana State Sycamores to a 59-54 victory over the Evansville Purple Aces in a Missouri Valley Conference brawl at the Hulman Center.
Indiana State (21-6, 12-3 MVC) has won four straight.
D.J. Balentine netted 19 points to go with eight assists for Evansville (11-17, 4-11), which has lost five of its last six. Egidijus Mockevicius logged a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Over the course of the first 20 minutes Indiana State shot at a 45.8 percent clip. Evansville countered with a 38.5 percent effort, leading to its 32-27 deficit at intermission.
The Sycamores cooled to 39.1 percent shooting in the second half, but they knocked down 6-of-8 at the free-throw line to hold off the Purple Aces, who connected on 41.7 percent from the floor in the period.
Indiana State outscored Evansville, 15-4, off the bench. The Purple Aces had the scoring edge off of turnovers (14-9).Game Notes
