Recap: Bradley vs. Indiana State
Peoria, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Odum finished with a game-high 27 points to lead the Indiana State Sycamores to a 68-62 victory over the Bradley Braves in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt at Carver Arena.
For the Sycamores (19-6, 10-3 MVC) Khristian Smith added 14 points with nine rebounds, and Manny Arop chipped in with 12 points and seven boards.
Walt Lemon Jr. led the Braves (11-15, 6-7) with 22 points and five steals, but also gave away seven turnovers. Tyshon Pickett posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Jordan Prosser scored 10 in the loss.
Indiana State made just 37.5 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, missing all six of its 3-point tries. Bradley shot just 26.7 percent from the field in the half, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc. Trailing 19-15 with under five minutes to play in the half, the Sycamores scored 12 of the final 13 points of the period to take a 27-20 advantage into the break.
After the intermission, Indiana State was hot from the floor, connecting on 55.6 percent of its shots and 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Bradley improved to 45.7 percent shooting from the field in the second, including 2-of-7 from deep. The Braves took a two-point lead, 42-40, midway through the half, but the Sycamores scored seven straight points to retake the lead, which they held down the stretch for the victory.
The Sycamores had a significant edge from the free-throw line, outscoring the Braves 25-9. The Braves were able to take advantage of the Sycamores' miscues, converting 18 turnovers into 24 points.Game Notes
