Recap: Bradley vs. Evansville
Peoria, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Walt Lemon Jr. netted 25 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Bradley Braves easily handled the Evansville Purple Aces, 83-66, in Missouri Valley Conference action at Carver Arena,
Tyshon Pickett scored 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Bradley (11-14, 6-6 MVC). Xzavier Taylor notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Omari Grier scored 13 in the win. The Braves have been victorious in three of their past four games.
D.J. Balentine scored 23 points on 7-of-16 shooting for Evansville (10-15, 3-9), which has lost four games in a row. Blake Simmons chipped in 18 points and Egidijus Mockevicius tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards.
Bradley shot 44.1 percent from the floor in the first half, and hit all seven free-throw attempts in the frame. The Braves took a 39-32 lead into the locker room at the end of the initial period, in which Evansville connected on 37.9 percent of its field goal tries.
The Braves exploded in the second half offensively, netting 60 percent of their shot attempts, but went 3-of-11 from 3-point distance. Bradley also hit 11-of-17 from the free-throw line. Evansville improved to 43.5 percent shooting in the period, but the Braves were too strong, outscoring the Purple Aces, 44-34.
Bradley had the advantage in points in the paint, 44-28, and in fast break points, 20-4. Evansville had the edge in bench points, 11-3.Game Notes
