Recap: Evansville vs. Bradley
Evansville, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - D.J. Balentine scored a game-high 24 points, hitting all 12 of his attempts at the free-throw line, as the Evansville Purple Aces captured a 66-60 win over the Bradley Braves in Missouri Valley Conference action at the Ford Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Purple Aces (10-11, 3-5 MVC), was Egidijus Mockevicius with 15 points as the team won for the second time in the last three outings.
The Braves (8-13, 3-5), who had a two-game win streak come to an end, were led by Walt Lemon Jr. with 14 points, Tyshon Pickett 13, Auston Barnes 11 points and Omari Grier 10 in the setback.
Bradley fell behind 6-2 right out of the gate and never recovered, converting just eight total field goals in the first half, en route to a 30-20 deficit at the break. Evansville knocked down only nine baskets through the first 20 minutes of action.
In the second half the Braves cut their deficit to just a single point, but the Purple Aces made sure to stay in front with the help of 52.9 percent shooting from the field and 16-of-18 at the free-throw line.
Evansville won the game at the charity stripe where it outscored the visitors by a 27-10 margin.Game Notes
