Recap: Bradley vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne
Peoria, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Luis Jacobo drained the game-winning 3- pointer in the final minute, his only bucket of the game, to lift the IUPU- Fort Wayne Mastodons to a 65-61 victory over the Bradley Braves at Carver Arena.
Isaiah McCray paced IPFW (8-4) with 12 points and six assists, while Steve Forbes tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Kibiloski also netted 11 points for the visitors, and Joe Edwards poured in 10 points.
For Bradley (5-5), losers of three straight and five of its last six, Walt Lemon, Jr. put up 14 points but also committed eight turnovers. Omari Grier scored 13 points, Ka'Darryl Blake pitched in 11 points off the bench, and Tyshon Pickett logged 10 points and seven boards.
Bradley led by as many as seven points in the first half but IPFW climbed back to take a 33-30 lead at intermission. Neither team shot greater than 43 percent from the floor in the opening stanza, and the two combined to shoot just 3-of-17 from 3-point range.
The Braves kept the came close throughout the second half and finally took the lead, 61-60, with 41 seconds left on an Auston Barnes bucket, but the Mastodons answered on their next possession with Jacobo's 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining to put them up for good. A pair of Forbes' free throws in the waning seconds sealed the deal for IPFW.
