Recap: Penn vs. Saint Josephs
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Langston Galloway had a game-high 20 points as the Saint Joseph's Hawks claimed an easy 84-68 win over the Penn Quakers in a Big 5 city series matchup at the Palestra.
The Hawks (12-5) have now won three straight and eight of their last nine games. DeAndre Bembry scored 13 points, as did Chris Wilson, who also had a team high five assists. Ronald Roberts Jr. added 10 points and Halil Kanacevic nearly recorded a triple double by posting nine points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. Kanacevic had seven more rebounds than the Quakers starting unit combined.
The Quakers (3-11) struggled from the start and have now lost eight of their last nine. Tony Hicks led the team with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. The Quakers had productive games from several of their reserves, as Steve Rennard scored 13 points, Dylan Jones tallied 10 and five rebounds, while Tony Bagtas had eight assists and no turnovers in just 14 minutes.
Saint Joseph's nailed 13-of-15 shots from beyond the arc in the first half to claim a 57-23 lead at halftime. Penn only connected on 29 percent from the field in the frame.
The Quakers were able to connect on 60 percent of their shots from the field after the break, but the Hawks were easily able to hang on, connecting on 44 percent.
The Hawks owned a 36-25 advantage on the boards and assisted on 22 of their 31 field goals.Game Notes
