Recap: Penn vs. Dartmouth
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Hicks led the way with 18 points as the Penn Quakers felled the Dartmouth Big Green, 74-65, in an Ivy League bout at the Palestra.
For the Quakers (7-16, 4-5 Ivy), Miles Cartwright added 15 points and dished out nine assists, Fran Dougherty finished with 13 points and Steve Rennard and Henry Brooks each chipped in with 11 points as the squad snapped a three-game slide.
Brandon McDonnell led the Big Green (9-15, 2-8) with 18 points, while Kevin Crescenzi scored 10 off the bench in the loss, the sixth straight for Dartmouth.
The visitors knocked down 55.6 percent of their field goal tries in the first half but still trailed at the break, 38-34. Penn was able to take the halftime lead by connecting on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and outscoring the Big Green at the free-throw line, 6-2.
After intermission, the Quakers improved to an even 50 percent shooting from the field. The Big Green struggled, hitting on only 38.5 percent of their field goal tries and 2-of-7 from 3-point range. Penn was able to push its advantage to as many as 16 points as it secured the home victory.
Penn finished the game with a 36-30 advantage in points in the paint. The Big Green got strong production from their bench, outscoring the Quakers' reserves, 27-11.Game Notes
