Recap: Dartmouth vs. Jacksonville St
Hanover, NH (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Mitola scored a game-high 16 points as the Dartmouth Big Green completed a 76-46 rout of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in a non-conference tilt at Leede Arena.
John Golden chipped in 14 points and six rebounds for Dartmouth (4-4) as it snapped a three-game losing streak. Tyler Melville and Brandon McDonnell added 12 points apiece for the Big Green. Gabas Maldunas contributed in a variety of ways as he finished with eight points, 11 boards, five assists and also blocked five shots.
None of the Gamecocks (4-8) managed to score in double-figures. Nick Cook led JSU with eight points while Darion Rackley tallied seven points and five rebounds.
Dartmouth knocked down 48 percent of its field goal attempts including 6-of-13 from behind the 3-point line in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. The Gamecocks trailed, 37-17, at halftime after they were limited to 23.1 percent shooting from the floor in the first period.
The Big Green converted 60.9 percent of their field goal tries and went 10- of-14 at the free-throw line in the second stanza to extend their advantage. Dartmouth outscored JSU, 18-8, in the paint after the intermission.
Although both sides grabbed 11 offensive boards, Dartmouth held a 35-12 edge in defensive rebounds. The Gamecocks have now lost three of their last four games.Game Notes
