Recap: Cornell vs. Yale
Ithaca, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Sears scored 19 points to lead the Yale Bulldogs to an 82-65 romp over the Cornell Big Red in Ivy League action at Newman Arena.
Jack Montague hit 5-of-7 from 3-point range and added 18 points while Brandon Sherrod chipped in 13 for Yale (14-9, 8-1 Ivy League), which has won seven straight.
Devin Cherry had a game-high 29 points for Cornell (2-21, 1-8), which also got 11 points from Nolan Cressler. The Big Red have lost eight of their last nine.
The Bulldogs came out of the gates on fire, knocking down 60.7 percent of their shots from the floor, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range, in the first half. Cornell had five triples in the frame, but shot at just a 42.9 percent clip overall. Yale led, 45-31, at intermission.
The Big Red had five more 3-pointers in the second half, when they limited the Bulldogs to nine field goals. However, Yale knocked down 18-of-26 attempts at the free-throw line to keep Cornell at bay.
The Bulldogs owned a 37-10 scoring advantage off the bench and a 35-26 edge on the glass.Game Notes
