Recap: Cornell vs. Dartmouth
Ithaca, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Nolan Cressler scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Cornell Big Red withstood a comeback run to defeat the Dartmouth Big Green, 70-67, in Ivy League action at Newman Arena.
Dwight Tarwater notched a double-double in the contest, netting 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds for Cornell (2-19, 1-6 Ivy). Jake Matthews came off the bench to score 13 points, and Devin Cherry contributed 12 with a team-high four assists in the win. The victory ended a six-game losing streak for the Big Red.
Tyler Melville led the way with 14 points for Dartmouth (9-12, 2-5). Alex Mitola chipped in 12 points and Connor Boehm tallied 10. The Big Green have lost three games in a row.
Cornell connected on 44 percent of its shots in the first half and took a 31-20 lead into the intermission. Dartmouth shot a dismal 30.4 percent from the floor in the frame.
The Big Green made a push in the second half, netting 50 percent of their field goal tries. Cornell, which shot 37.9 percent from the floor in the period, held on for the three-point win.
Cornell outscored Dartmouth from the free-throw line, 20-13, and had the edge in fast break points, 12-2. The Big Green won the battle in points in the paint, 32-26.Game Notes
