Dartmouth (10-16) at Brown (15-11)

GAME NOTES: Dartmouth shoots for back-to-back wins for the first time in more than a month, as the Big Green challenge the Brown Bears in Ivy League play at the Pizzitola Center in Rhode Island.

At the end of January and the beginning of February the Big Green defeated Penn and Princeton in back-to-back dates at home and now the team is trying to make it happen again, albeit with six days in between victories. Last Saturday, the Big Green took down visiting Cornell, 87-78, snapping a seven- game slide and marking just the third league win of the season for the program.

While Dartmouth is sitting in seventh place in the Ivy standings, Brown is currently tied with Columbia for third place with seven wins in 12 opportunities. However, unlike the Big Green, the Bears are coming off a defeat from last weekend, a 69-64 setback at Princeton.

Brown won the first meeting of the season back on Feb. 8 by a score of 75-62 on the road, which means the all-time series now stands at 76-69 in favor of the Big Green.

Dartmouth shot only 38.7 percent from the floor in the first half against the Big Red last weekend, yet that was still good enough for a six-point edge at the break and after that the Big Green erupted for 65.2 percent from the field to put the game away. Alex Mitola accounted for a game-high 33 points as he sank a staggering 8-of-9 behind the 3-point line, followed by Kevin Crescenzi with 17 points off the bench. Connor Boehm and Tyler Melville pitched in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Big Green have had a different leading scorer in each of the last four games and that probably has something to do with former leading scorer Gabas Maldunas (11.2 ppg) finishing out the season on the injured list. With Maldunas out of the picture, Mitola (11.0 ppg) and Boehm (10.6 ppg) have tried to step up their efforts, but for the most part it has not helped as the group averages just 67.7 ppg.

Cedric Kuakumensah continued to make his presence known for the Bears as he delivered a double-double consisting of 18 points and 10 rebounds, adding five blocked shots as well in the loss to Princeton. However, Kuakumensah did shoot just 6-of-17 from the floor and that brought the entire team down to just 36.7 percent accuracy. Sean McGonagill, a mere 5-of-17 from the field and 2-of-10 beyond the arc, finished with 19 points and reserve Leland King tacked on 10 points in only 12 minutes.

Coming on strong in recent weeks, Kuakumensah is now up to 8.9 ppg and 6.8 rpg for the Bears, but he is probably more known for his effort in the paint where he has come up with 79 rejections, which means the rest of the roster has combined for only 38 blocks through 26 games. McGonagill stands as the lone double-digit scorer for the program with his 17.4 ppg, having knocked down 82 of the unit's 169 3-pointers.

As long as Kuakumensah can continue his upward trajectory, the Bears should feel good about tonight's meeting with the Big Green, before being pitted against league-leading Harvard in the season finale on Saturday.
