Recap: Ill-Chicago vs. SMU
Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Nic Moore scored 20 points and handed out seven assists as the SMU Mustangs captured a 73-65 win over the Illinois- Chicago Flames in non-conference play at UIC Pavilion.
Also scoring in double figures for the Mustangs (8-2), as they captured their third straight win, was Markus Kennedy who dropped in 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
Losers of two of the last three, the Flames (3-5) were led by Kelsey Barlow who tallied a game-high 31 points, adding six rebounds and three assists for the hosts.
SMU scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting an even 50 percent from the field in the opening half, while limiting UIC to just 38.5 percent, en route to a 33-31 edge at the break.
In the second half the Flames continued to flounder with just 32.3 percent accuracy from the field and 29.4 percent behind the 3-point line, all while the Mustangs connected on 57.7 percent from the floor to put the meeting away.
The Flames finished the contest with only 8-of-28 shooting beyond the arc.Game Notes
