Recap: Seton Hall vs. Saint Peters
Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Desi Washington buried a 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left in overtime, lifting the Saint Peter's Peacocks to a dramatic, 83-80 upset win over the Seton Hall Pirates in non-conference action at the Prudential Center.
Washington finished with a career-high 34 points behind 7-of-9 3-point shooting to help the Peacocks (3-6) snap a 17-game slide in the head-to-head series. Marvin Dominique chipped in with 25 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, while Quadir Welton finished with 10 points in the win.
Brian Oliver had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pirates (7-4), who saw their three-game winning streak come to a halt. Eugene Teague also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Sterling Gibbs scored 17 in a losing effort.
Neither team shot better than 30 percent from the floor in the first half, which ended in a 26-26 tie.
Dominique scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half to spark the Peacocks. But after Washington sank a pair of free throws to give Saint Peter's a 68-65 lead with one second to play in regulation, Seton Hall set up an inbound play and got the ball to Oliver, who drained a 3-pointer from NBA range to send the game to overtime.
Oliver hit another game-tying three with 13 seconds remaining in the extra session, but then Washington answered by hitting the game-winner on the other end of the floor.
The win was Saint Peter's first over Seton Hall since 1995.Game Notes
