Recap: Providence vs. Vermont
Providence, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryce Cotton and LaDontae Henton had 18 points apiece to lead the Providence Friars to a 70-49 rout of the Vermont Catamounts in a non-conference matchup at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Henton also brought down nine boards to help the Friars (4-0) stay undefeated. Kadeem Batts had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kris Dunn led the team with eight assists.
Luke Apfeld paced the Catamounts (1-3) with 14 points. Clancy Rugg recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 boards. Brian Voelkel led Vermont with four assists to go along with nine rebounds.
Providence managed to take a 30-14 lead into the intermission despite going 0- of-7 from beyond the arc in the first period. The Catamounts could not capitalize as they shot a putrid 16 percent from the field and converted only 4-of-10 tries at the charity stripe.
The Friars heated up to sink 53.8 percent of their shots from 3-point range after the break. Vermont improved to hit on 48.3 percent of its shots from the floor, however Providence still outscored the visitors after the break as it pushed its lead to as many as 25 before arriving at the 21-point decision.
Providence assisted 17 of its 28 made field goals and outscored the Catamounts, 33-22, in the paint in the contest.Game Notes
