Recap: Rutgers vs. Houston
Piscataway, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 27 points from J.J. Moore, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights dominated the Houston Cougars, 93-70, in an American Athletic Conference tilt at the RAC.
For the Scarlet Knights (9-13, 3-6, AAC), Myles Mack added 25 points and six assists, Kadeem Jack finished with 16 points and Jerome Seagears chipped in with 11.
TaShawn Thomas led the Cougars (11-11, 3-6) with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Brandon Morris scored 13 and L.J. Rose and Danuel House each tallied 11 points.
Rutgers shot 47.1 percent from the field, including 4-of-13 from 3-point range in the first half. The Scarlet Knights used a 13-3 run midway through the half to help them pull away and take a 46-31 lead at the break. Houston struggled from the field in the first, shooting just 39.4 from the field and missing all but one of its 10 3-point tries.
After the intermission, Rutgers continued its sharp shooting, connecting on 60 percent of its field goal tries. Houston improved to 46.7 percent shooting, but was no match for the Scarlet Knights on the afternoon. Rutgers led by as many as 25 in the second half, as the Knights coasted to victory.
Rutgers took advantage of Houston's miscues, converting 14 Cougar turnovers into 20 points. The Cougars did have some success in the frontcourt, outrebounding the Scarlet Knights 39-31 and outscoring them in the paint, 40-32.Game Notes
