Recap: Connecticut vs. Harvard

Storrs, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Shabazz Napier scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Connecticut Huskies survived their meeting with Harvard, 61-56, a non-league affair at Gampel Pavilion.

Napier, who handed out four assists, shot just 4-of-12 from the field overall for the Huskies (12-3), although three of those conversions came from behind the 3-point line. Ryan Boatright pitched in with 14 points and DeAndre Daniels 11 to go along with eight rebounds and four blocked shots for a UConn squad that snapped a two-game slide.

The Crimson (13-2) were paced by Siyani Chambers who tallied a game-high 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting beyond the arc. Laurent Rivard chipped in 13 points, four assists and four steals, while Kyle Casey came up a rebound shy of a double-double as he posted 10 points. The setback halted a nine-game win streak by Harvard.

UConn shot an impressive 57.9 percent from the field in the first half, but the team converted only 1-of-3 at the free-throw line, which was part of the reason why the Crimson owned a 31-26 advantage at the break. Harvard knocked down 5-of-10 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half both programs shot below 27 percent from the floor, but the Huskies turned around and connected on 5-of-10 on the perimeter and 16-of-22 at the charity stripe in order to pull off the victory.

In a game that featured six ties and five lead changes, Harvard was outscored at the free-throw line by a 17-7 margin.
