Recap: Northwestern vs. Wisconsin
Evanston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Nigel Hayes scored a career-high 19 points to lead fourth-ranked Wisconsin in a 76-49 victory over Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
"What Nigel's doing, one of the biggest reasons he's able to do that, besides his frame, is that he's intelligent," Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan said.
Sam Dekker added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Traevon Jackson and Ben Burst each netted 10 for the Badgers (14-0, 1-0), who are one win shy of tying the school's best start in 100 years (UW went 15-0 in 1913-1914).
