Recap: George Mason vs. Oklahoma
Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Clark recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Oklahoma Sooners coasted to an 81-66 decision over the George Mason Patriots in non-conference action at the Verizon Center as part of the BB&T Classic.
Ryan Spangler and Buddy Hield also notched double-doubles for the Sooners (8-1). Spangler contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds while Hield tallied 12 points and 10 boards. Jordan Woodard chipped in 15 points to help Oklahoma collect its fourth consecutive victory.
Byron Allen paced GMU (5-4) with 15 points. The other four Patriots who started combined for only 24 points on 5-of-20 shooting from the field.
The Sooners converted 8-of-12 attempts at the free-throw line and shot 45.5 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes to take a 38-28 lead into halftime. GMU hit on only 3-of-10 shots from beyond the arc and just 5-of-19 from inside the 3-point line in the first half.
The Patriots continued to struggle after the break and made only 32.4 percent of their field goal tries. Oklahoma pulled away as it drained 14-of-17 attempts at the charity stripe in the second stanza.
