Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Cal Poly
Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lamar Patterson poured in a career-high 30 points, as the Pittsburgh Panthers rolled over the Cal Poly Mustangs, 73-56, at Petersen Events Center.
Patterson hit 11-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range for the Panthers (11-1). Durand Johnson joined him in double figures with 12 points.
Chris Eversley led the Mustangs (4-7) with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor. Kyle Odister and David Nwaba also hit double-digits with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Mustangs shot 41.7 percent from the floor in the first half to the Panthers' 35.5 percent. The Panthers, however, took seven more shots and made all three free-throw attempts, while the Mustangs didn't even get to the line. Pittsburgh claimed a 28-23 lead halftime.
While the Mustangs matched their field goal percentage from the first half in the final 20 minutes, the Panthers improved greatly to shoot 59.3 percent. Pittsburgh was again perfect on free throws, making 9-of-9 on the way to a convincing victory.
The Panthers never trailed in the game and led by as many as 20 points inside the final two minutes. They also outrebounded the Mustangs, 36-28, and bounced back from their first loss of season earlier in the week at Cincinnati (44-43).Game Notes
