Recap: Georgia Tech vs. Notre Dame
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Trae Golden scored 20 points and Daniel Miller posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets knocked off Notre Dame, 74-69, in Atlantic Coast Conference action at McCamish Pavilion.
Chris Bolden chipped in with 14 points off the bench, while Kammeon Holsey tallied 13 points and seven boards to help the Yellow Jackets (10-6, 1-2 ACC) notch their first league victory of the season.
Eric Atkins led the way with 20 points for the Fighting Irish (10-6, 1-2). Garrick Sherman (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Pat Connaughton (10 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists) both notched double-doubles, while Austin Burgett scored 11 off the bench in the loss.
Georgia Tech claimed a 39-35 halftime lead after limiting Notre Dame to 36.8- percent shooting in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets pushed their lead to as many as 15 six minutes into the second stanza, but the Irish rallied to take a 66-64 lead on Sherman's tip-in with just under three minutes to play in regulation. However, Golden put Georgia Tech back on top for good with a 3-pointer with 45 seconds on the clock, and the Yellow Jackets made free throws down the stretch to seal it.
Notre Dame struggled from outside, connecting only 6-of-24 3-pointers for the game.Game Notes
