Recap: Kansas State vs. Ole Miss
Manhattan, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Foster and Thomas Gipson each scored 15 points as the Kansas State Wildcats held off the Ole Miss Rebels, 61-58, as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge at Bramlage Coliseum.
Wesley Iwundu tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Kansas State (4-4), which has won three in a row.
Jarvis Summers scored 18 points but also committed five turnovers in the Rebels' (8-1) first loss of the season. Marshall Henderson netted 13 points, albeit on just 4-of-18 from the field, while Aaron Jones added nine rebounds and three blocks.
Despite getting outshot from the field in the first half, 42.9 percent to 36.7 percent, Kansas State carried a slim 31-29 lead into intermission. It shot 3- of-10 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes, while Ole Miss was only 1-of-7 from beyond the arc and 4-of-8 from the stripe.
Trailing by three with under six minutes to play, Ole Miss ran off a 7-0 run to take a four-point lead, but the Wildcats responded with an 8-0 burst of their own to regain the advantage, 57-53, with 1:25 remaining. The Rebels got to within one with 29 seconds left on a Henderson 3-pointer, but he missed a long-range attempt in the waning seconds that would have won the game.
Neither team shot greater than 62 percent from the foul line, but Kansas State outscored Ole Miss from the stripe, 19-11.Game Notes
