Recap: Texas A&M vs. LSU
College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamal Jones netted 19 points as the Texas A&M Aggies defeated the LSU Tigers, 83-73, in Southeast Conference action at Reed Arena.
Jones knocked down 5-of-10 attempts from 3-point range for the Aggies (14-10, 5-6 SEC), who also received a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards courtesy of Kourtney Roberson. Davonte Fitzgerald scored 11 points in only nine minutes of action to help Texas A&M pick up its second win in three outings.
Shavon Coleman paced LSU (15-8, 6-5) with 21 points. Johnny O'Bryant III added 15 points, Jordan Mickey contributed 13 points and Jarrell Martin finished 2- of-9 from the floor for 11 points.
Texas A&M connected on 45.5 percent of its field goal attempts including a 6- of-15 clip from behind the 3-point line in the opening 20 minutes. The Tigers went into the intermission trailing, 43-37, after they were limited to 44.4 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.
The Aggies extended their lead after halftime by making good on 52 percent of their attempts from the field and converting 10-of-16 tries at the free-throw line. LSU went just 4-of-16 from beyond the arc in the second stanza.
Texas A&M's bench outscored the Tigers' reserves, 33-4. The Aggies also finished with a 39-32 advantage in total rebounds.Game Notes
