Recap: Western Ill vs. North Dakota St
Sioux Falls, SD (Sports Network) - TrayVonn Wright tallied 19 points and seven rebounds as the third-seeded North Dakota State Bison powered past the second- seeded Western Illinois Leathernecks, 55-43, in the semifinal round of the Summit League Tournament at Sioux Falls Arena.
Wright shot 5-of-8 from 3-point range for NDSU (24-8), which will square off against top-seeded South Dakota State in Tuesday night's championship game. Taylor Braun added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bison, who have won four in a row.
For WIU (22-8), Adam Link logged 12 points and eight boards. Leathernecks' forward Terrell Parks (12.7 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 2.5 bpg), the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, did not play for the fourth straight game while nursing a foot injury.
NDSU shot 40 percent from the field in the first half while holding WIU to a lowly 25 percent shooting, as it took a 24-20 lead into intermission. The Leathernecks were able to keep the game within striking distance by shooting 8-of-9 from the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes.
The Bison never surrendered their advantage in the second half, sealing the win with an 8-0 run late in the stanza.
