Recap: Northern Ariz vs. Weber State
Flagstaff, AZ (Sports Network) - Davion Berry scored 25 points as Weber State managed to hold on for an 80-78 overtime win versus the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in Big Sky Conference action at Walkup Skydome.
Scott Bamforth accounted for 20 points, shooting 4-of-8 behind the 3-point line for the Wildcats (22-5, 16-2 Big Sky) as they extended their win streak to eight in a row. Gelaun Wheelwright accounted for 10 points off the bench for the visitors.
The Lumberjacks (11-18, 8-10) were led by Gabe Rogers with 25 points as he connected on 6-of-13 shots behind the 3-point line, followed by Max Jacobsen and DeWayne Russell with 17 points apiece, the latter also posting seven assists, six rebounds and three steals in the team's second loss in the last three outings.
WSU shot 51.7 percent from the floor in the first half and led by as many as 12 points late in the period before heading into the break with a 37-29 advantage.
In the second half the Wildcats made a total of only eight field goals and fell behind by as many as seven points. However, the visitors refused to give up and used a pair of free throws by Berry with just 11 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score at 69-69 and send it into overtime.
In the extra session Bamforth led off with a 3-pointer for WSU and the team never looked back, securing the two-point win on the road.
The Wildcats survived the wild ride despite turning the ball over 19 times.Game Notes
