Recap: CS-Northridge vs. Hawaii
Northridge, CA (Sports Network) - Behind a career-high 37 points by Josh Greene, the Cal State Northridge Matadors downed the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, 88-75, in a Big West Conference matchup at the Matadome.
For the Matadors (13-17, 4-13 Big West), Stephen Maxwell posted a double- double with 24 points and 13 rebounds and Allan Guei chipped in with 10 points, as CSUN snapped a six-game losing streak.
Christian Standhardinger led the Rainbow Warriors (17-12, 10-7) with 26 points, while Hauns Brereton added 18 points and Vander Joaquim registered a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 19 rebounds.
Hawaii took a 43-39 lead into the break, knocking down 50 percent of its field goal tries in the half, including 5-of-11 from 3-point range. CSUN also shot 50 percent from the field and nearly the same from beyond the arc, hitting 5-of-12 from 3-point distance.
After halftime, the Matadors shot just 41.9 percent from the field, but connected on 6-of-15 from beyond the arc. The Rainbow Warriors shot 40 percent from the field but missed all seven of their 3-point tries. Trailing 66-63 midway through the half, CSUN went on a 12-3 run to take the lead, as they held on for the victory.
The Matadors outscored the Rainbow Warriors, 23-10 from the free-throw line. Hawaii outrebounded CSUN, 44-30.Game Notes
