Only nine states have taken steps towards water readiness according to a new report by a major environmental group.

The first ever state-by-state analysis by the Natural Resources Defense Council says 29 states are ill-preapred for the growing threat posed by climate change and other factors. Texas falls among that group.
The impacts include severe storms, intense rainfall, a rise in sea level, warmer water and of course droughts. An NRDC spokesman calls the report a wake-up call and roadmap for all communities to understand how to prepare for climate change.
