Lubbock police are doing an extensive investigation into a wreck that killed a Lubbock man and injured three others early Saturday morning.
It happened at the intersection of 82nd Street and Slide Road. Police reported a car traveling eastbound on 82nd, at a high rate of speed, crashed into the back of another car, causing it to smash into a utility pole. The alleged driver of the speeding vehicle, 29-year-old Scott Folkerts, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, 36-year-old Drew Baize, died at the scene.
The driver of the other car, 25-year-old Keeley Harcrow and her passenger, 24-year-old Ashley Pendergast were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Investigators will be mapping the crash next Sunday morning starting at 7 a.m., so eastbound and westbound lanes at that intersection will be closed until about 10 a.m.
