A new movie opening in Lubbock on Tuesday will look mighty familiar. "The Arroyo" was shot in Lubbock and Garza counties.
The world premiere was Monday night at Premiere Cinemas, with the filmmakers, cast and crew strolling the red carpet. It opens for regular screenings tomorrow.
The movie stars Kenny Maines as a rancher on the Arizona-Mexico border, who is seeing a lot of drug trafficking come across his land, and the violence that comes with the trade.
Since the government will not act, he decides to take matters into his own hands.
The movie co-stars Glenn Polk, Junior Vasquez and David Armendariz. The director and co-writer, Jeremy Boering, is from Slaton.
