A teenager was critically hurt in a crash near Slaton late this morning.
According to DPS troopers, Gregorio Tafoya was speeding east of Slaton on County Road 7700 when he crashed into a telephone pole. Troopers believe divots in the road may have been a factor in the wreck.
"There's a lot of ruts from tractors that have been going through here farming so vehicles get caught up in those ruts and they lose control very quickly so again adjust your speed accordingly to the county roads out here. Just because its 60 miles an hour out here doesn't indicate you can drive that because of the road conditions," said trooper John Gonzalez.
Tafoya was airlifted to UMC for treatment.
