T. J. Patterson made his annual Christmas visit to the Lubbock County Detention Center Sunday. It's 25th year the former city councilman has made the annual pilgrimage.

Inmates received new socks and Christmas candy canes courtesy Lubbock County citizens who chipped in to share the holiday spirit. Patterson says his only goal is to brighten the inmates' day.

"We are not here to look down, but to lift them up, because some parents don't come visit these young people," he said. "We come here to say we love ya and God loves ya as well. Thats why we are here today."

Patterson says as long as God gives him the strength he will be out to visit these inmates on Christmas.
