The school within Southcrest Baptist Church is expanding to nearby Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Parents and students were introduced via open house to the unique arrangement that's established a satellite campus which will house classes for pre-k through 1st grade.
Enrollment growth and the addition of 10th grade this year led Southcrest Christian School administrators to search for extra space.
Assistant Principal Susie Driscoll says leasing Cumberland's activity center was a perfect fit.
"We are also going to use this facility, especially this big room as we have in-services for our whole staff. It's a wonderful place to meet and our high school kids will actually have basketball practice over here during basketball season. We will utilize the gym for our games as well."
Southcrest is also completing a new high school wing at its home church on Loop 289 and Memphis.
It's slated to open in time for the start of the upcoming school year.
