A unique partnership with technology now allows physicians in rural areas to provide quality care.
Four hospitals participated in a demonstration by the Texas Midwest Health Information exchange.
Nathan Tudor, the CEO of Stonewall Memorial Hospital in Aspermont, says this merger of technology with health care is a huge boost for rural hospitals. Especially those with a limited budget, and also in terms of patient care.
"where it's really, really beneficial is when a person that normally sees their primary care physician in stamford texas, say they were involved in an accident and had to come into my emergency room in aspermont, their record will be available for my physicians to treat them. their medications, their latest lab results, x-rays, basically have their patients entire medical record," said Tudor.
Tudor says this is a first for rural hospitals and they hope to make it a pattern for other hospitals to follow.
He adds that this technology is hacker proof, because it's on a secure, closed network that's only shared between the participating hospitals.
