Running is a classic form of exercise than can easily become the healthiest addiction you develop.
If you want to start running this year, members of the West Texas Running Club say not to waste any time. The club is hosting a five mile run Saturday at 10 a.m. The Loop the Lake run will happen at the Buddy Holly Recreational Area. If you're not quite ready for five miles, club members say participants have the option of cutting it down to two. They also encourage walkers and walk/runners to participate.
Dee Knapp, an instructor at The Falls Tennis and Athletic Center, says running with buddies or family members can help you make tremendous strides. Committing to a partner or even a race helps to hold you accountable. Other runners like Dee's son, Brandon, and her friend, Bonnie Bowman, agree.
