Lubbock Police need assistance in finding a robbery suspect.  The suspect robbed Smokin' J's in the 4400 block of 50th street.  The victim, who owns the business, was approached as he was closing up and leaving the store on Sunday night. The suspect hit the victim from behind with a crow bar and forced him back into the store and continued the beating.  The suspect stole money from the man's pocket.

Sergeant Jason Lewis with the Lubbock Police Department said the suspect was wearing Aeropostale jogging pants with "A-87" on the left leg.

"I think he was just after that bank roll. I think he was after that nightly deposit, and that's something else that people can look for," Lewis said, "It was very brutal. And on the cash that he took, he did take it from the owner's pockets. So there is going to be blood on that money."

The suspect got away on foot. He is about 5'9" and 185 pounds.

The employee did not have serious injuries.

If you can identify the suspect, call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
