Lubbock Police Department officers responded to a burglary call Wednesday at 12:30 a.m., and a suspect was arrested after a brief chase.

It started when officers found 20-year-old Joe Martinez seriously injured in the alley of the 500 block of 42nd Street, and a suspect vehicle driving away.

Officers eventually used a controlled collision to stop the SUV near 42nd Street and Avenue Q.

Police said the vehicle belonged to the victim.

The suspect,  25-year-old Matthew Rodriguez, was treated for minor injuries then booked on charges of aggravated robbery, evading, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

One LPD officer was also treated for minor injuries.
