Vacation should be time away without worries and the Lubbock sheriff's deputies can help with that. The LSO provides a crime prevention service called "Vacation Watch" throughout the year, but it is particularly popular during the summer months. The initiative aims to curb burglaries in rural areas.

“Individuals that live out in the county, should they be leaving for any extended period of time, can call the Sheriff's Office and we'll set up to send our patrol units by their residence or businesses just to make sure things are staying secure and we're not having any problems," said Lubbock County Sheriff, Kelly Rowe.

Let the Sheriff's Office know ahead of time and deputies will periodically check your home while you are away.

The number to call is: 775-1480.
