2,996 flags. That was the sight on Texas Tech's campus Tuesday in honor of the 11th anniversary of that well known day. One flag for every man, woman, and child killed during the terrorist attacks, all in the shape of 9-11.

The event was put on by the Young Conservatives through a project called Never Forget. The students involved are a generation of college students who were only in elementary school at the time of the attacks.

"I was in middle school, going to a gym class i think. i just remember people talking about it, and I got called to the office because my parents came to pick me up for whatever reason and that is really all I remember about it," Young Conservative Executive Director, Jeramy Kitchens, said.

The memory is small, but one that lead Kitchens to join the military.
