A suspect accused of murdering his wife and setting fire to their home has been indicted on a charge on aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Police reports stated 35-year-old Abel Martinez Alonzo was scheduled to take a lie detector test about the aggravated sexual assault allegation against him on December 18th. That was the day Alonzo's wife, Denise, was found dead inside their fire-gutted duplex on 58th Street near Avenue S.
Neighbors said while the fire was smoldering, Abel Alonzo was lying outside covered with blood and holding a knife.
He is held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on $250,000 bond for the charge of aggravated sexual assault on a child.
His bond for the charge of murder in connection with the death of his wife is $500,000.
