Because the number of property crimes typically increases during the holiday season the number of Lubbock County lawmen on patrol will too. Beginning Monday, deputies and investigators will be conducting Operation Saint Nick.
It is an all-out effort to curb burglaries in rural areas.
"We increase patrol deputies out, we bring in investigators to come out into the streets and help, civil warrants divisions, courts divisions, everybody pitches in personnel and also we get increased patrols out in the county to help better serve the citizens and try to prevent the burglaries before they actually occur," said, Lubbock County Sheriff's Office Captain, David Turner.
A big part of this initiative is encouraging residents to be on the look-out and report any suspicious activity to the Lubbock Sheriff's Office.
The non-emergency number to call is 775-1480.
