Lockney murder victim died from head injury

Autopsy results concluded the victim of a murder in Floyd County last week died from blunt force injuries to the head. Investigators found the body of 25-year-old Kechi Diaz of Lubbock in a residence in Lockney at about 2 a.m. on October 13.

51-year-old Edward Hernandez was arrested at the scene. He is a registered sex offender. He will remain jailed on $500,000 bond on a murder charge.

The Floyd County Sheriff said Hernandez called 911.

Detectives said Hernandez had been in a relationship with the victim.
