Lubbock celebrates the MLK holiday

Four days of events will mark the celebration of the MLK holiday in Lubbock.

Friday is the Individuals of Distinction Award Banquet at 7 p.m. at the Lubbock Civic Center. The guest speaker will be Dr. Aretha Faye Marbley, Texas Tech Counselor Education Professor.

Saturday is youth night beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Dunbar Middle School Academy.    

On Sunday, a citywide service is set for 5 p.m. at the Civic Center. The guest speaker for that event will be Pastor Patrick McGrew, of Higher Praise Family Church, of Fort Worth.

Monday is gospel night at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church.
