Several details have been released in Friday's shooting death of 19-year-old Paul Ochoa.

According to police reports, 23-year-old Ryan Garcia told officers he shot a man trying to break into his home in the 1400 block of West Monroe.

Officers found Ochoa dead, lying in the road near Monroe and Avenue M. They recovered a shotgun at the scene.

Police Chief Toney Cowan said statements indicate Ochoa and another man had driven to Garcia's house. The chief said it appeared Ochoa was outside the home when shots were fired from a window.

Garcia is jailed on $150,000 bond on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Chief Cowan said the district attorney will consider whether to file any other charges against Garcia, after the shooting investigation is complete.
